Aug 13, 2024 19.5 miles 7:30 am – 3:00 pm Others: Yoda plus hundreds of others in Waterton Had a good hike to the border and then into Waterton.  It was sad to finish, but good at the same time.  Yoda got his triple crown and that was fun.  We walked around Waterton trying to find a place to stay with no luck.  Then we came back to the campground and they gave us two spots.  That was a relief.  Otherwise we would have had to hike back out on the trail somewhere. Aug 12, 2024 20.7 miles 8:00 am – 5:00 pm Others: Yoda and several people out for a few days Today was pretty nice coming out of Many Glacier.  Except for the fact that we were in a car camping place and the guys across from us were up at 5am and making all kinds of noise.  Oh well… We started at about 7am, but after going a 1/4 mile discovered a little cafe next to the road.  So having no food self control, we went in for second breakfast.  Then we left around 8am to start the hike.  Just …

Aug 11, 2024 15.7 miles 7:30 am – 5:00 pm Others: Yoda, plus a ton of other people.  In the Many Glacier campground The morning part of our hike was just awesome.  We started out not great going uphill through a very overgrown trail, but after about 4  miles it got better.  Then we started up over Piegan Pass.  Going over this pads we really took our time at like an hour per mile.  It was just wonderful.  We stopped at the top for a little lunch break, but more just so we could stay at the pass longer.  Then …

Aug 10, 2024 14 miles 7:30 am – 1:00 pm Others: Yoda, a father and young daughter, two 20 something kids We walked about 14 easy miles today.  And I can’t really think of anything to report about the hike.  Well, I guess we saw a female moose. Aug 9, 2024 8;30 am – 3:00 pm 14.0 miles Others: Yoda A long easy climb up to Triple Divide peak.  It was beautiful and I’m sure the pictures won’t do it justice.  Then a long climb down the other side.  I say long because we took forever due to the blueberries.  Then once we ate all we could, we got down to this place where we could hear wolves on both sides of the trail.  They were high up the ridge on either side of us, so we couldn’t see them.  Then we pretty much just hiked the remaining …

Aug 8, 2024 13.7 miles 8:30 am – 6:00 pm Others: Yoda, a couple from Montana, 5 guys from out east Today was a great day.  I think it would have only been 4 miles but we set up our tents left almost everything and went back out.  We went back up Pitamakan Pass and went around the other side of Mt Morgan (east) to look at Oldman Lake from the east side, from Dawson Pass at about 7800 ft.  It was fantastic.  Them we walked back to camp.  Took a bunch of pictures.

Aug 7, 2024 12 or 13 miles 8:00 am – 4:00 pm Others: Yoda, plus a full campground It rained significantly last night.  Basically, all night long, we got up when it quit, which was about 7 am.  Both of our tents were pretty well soaked, but Yoda’s got the worst of it.  He was basically in a puddle of water.  We went back to two medicine cause our trail went that way, and went into the store for a couple hours.  We both took out everything but our tents to dry out.  It worked out well.  Eventually, that family …

Aug 6, 2024 17.6 miles 8:00 am – 6:00 pm Others: Yoda, a family from Montana, some friends from Colorado Just has a very enjoyable walk into the park today.  Went quite a bit slower than normal taking pictures and simply enjoying the scenery.  The weather was beautiful.  It’s supposed to rain tonight.  Maybe God will allow it to clear by the morning, which would be fantastic. August 3, 2024 6:00 am – 8:30 am Others: Yoda, Boomerang Just a walk down the highway.  We did the craziness yesterday and the highway today because the actual trail is no fun.  It’s just a walk through the woods, with high grass/bushes.  Instead yesterday was really pretty nice and interesting.  Today wasn’t anything special since it was along the highway, but that’s ok. It’s been pretty nice in the hostel.  Had a couple good meals, breakfast and dinner, followed by some Ben and Jerry’s.  Mostly listening to Boomerang ever since he got in.  He is a very interesting person.  …

Aug 2, 2024 28.8 miles 7:00 am – 7:00 pm Others: Yoda Today was a long but good day.  Started out kind of bad with the trail up to our waist with brush.  At times you literally couldn’t see the trail, looked like we were just walking through the brush, which we really were.  This lasted about 9 or 10 miles, then it started to get better.
